Do you have a kite beach you'd like to share with the world? Setting up a KiteCam location is easier than you might think, and it's a great way to contribute to the global kiteboarding community.
How to Set Up Your Beach Camera
- Fill Out Our Application Form - Tell us about your beach location and confirm you have the necessary permissions to install a camera.
- We'll Create Your Beach Location - Once approved, we'll set up a dedicated page for your beach with a unique FTP upload address and login credentials.
- Set Up Your Camera - Install a camera capable of automatically capturing photos every 10 minutes. We recommend using outdoor-rated IP cameras with built-in FTP upload capabilities. Popular options include:
- Reolink cameras with FTP support
- Hikvision IP cameras
- Any camera with scheduled FTP upload features
- Configure Automatic Uploads - Set your camera to upload photos to the FTP address we provide. Photos should be captured every 10 minutes during daylight hours and automatically uploaded to our servers.
- Go Live - Once your camera is uploading successfully, your beach will appear on KiteCam for kiters worldwide to enjoy!
How KiteCam Works
Requirements
To set up a beach camera location, you'll need:
- Permission to install a camera at the beach location
- A reliable internet connection (WiFi or cellular)
- An outdoor camera with FTP upload capability
- Power supply for the camera (solar panels are a great option for remote locations)
- A clear view of the beach and water

All cameras must be positioned to capture beach and water conditions only. Please respect the privacy of beachgoers and ensure your camera placement complies with local laws and regulations.
